This is like crying wolf. All reviewers often write, “Essential Reading,” or “Must have,” or “Don’t Miss”. Alas, from time to time we are also guilty of such hyperbole. The problem is, when the real thing comes along, no one will believe us.
But make no mistake. Prior to 2009, dog-eared, second hand copies of Simon Moore’s immortal book were changing hand at around $1500 USD each, and not just for its pretty cover. The Alfa 8C 2900 is the most important and significant pre war Italian car ever built. Super Sleuth Moore leaves no stone unearthed, no rumor ignored. Every car is listed by the serial number with a complete history along with owner’s notes, original photos, and a section for overall technical information. The second edition took years to complete, it has much more material than the first edition and is actually an entirely new book, with 480 pages, 99 color photos and 401 black and white photos. In all respects, it is more than twice the size of the first edition.
And so we’ll say it again. This book is a must for anyone seriously interested in motoring history. At only $295 pp, the second edition is an absolute steal and will no doubt appreciate in value as the print run is exhausted.

Having conquered the esoteric world of the Alfa 2.9, Simon Moore undertook a similar project for the more numerous Alfa 2.3s, which immediately preceded the 2.9. It took three hefty volumes to properly convey the histories of almost every one of 188 cars produced in the 8C2300 series.
Using the same approach that worked well for the 2.9 book, Moore took years to dig up everything possible from interviews with owners to hundreds of never before published historic photos out of the 1,289 images in the book. Like the Immortal 2.9, it is simply, uniquely, and overwhelmingly indispensable to a serious historian, Alfa enthusiasts and anyone even slightly enamored with the marque from Milan. Complete with bookcase slipcover.
962 pages in three volumes, in a sturdy slipcase Large format (26 x 27 cm) on heavy matte paper Bonded leather binding and slipcase cover 1,289 black and white photographs in rich duotone 73 full-color photographs All photographs are spot-varnished
SPECIAL OFFER: If you order a copy of The Immortal 2.9, you may also order one copy of
The Legenday 2.3 (Simon’s 3-volume book about the 8C2300 Alfa Romeos) at the discounted price of $250 in USA and Canada, or $295 other countries.
