Here you have it, something the SCCA should have done years ago but didn’t. It took a Brit to come over, gather the stats, find and pay for the photos, and a Brit publisher to gamble that the venture would at least break even. O’Neil covers the races year by year, event by event, explains the event, maps it out, and provides a background. The book makes good use of over 475 photos, 104 of them in color and all well captioned. It is massive at 432 pages and is 9 7/8 by 9 7/8 inches. Each race event, be it SCCA or other sanctioning body, has a complete list of finishers in each class or race, not just the biggies, but the puddle jumpers, specials, and lovable cars that made this era so compelling. It will not be available on the Net, for there is really no viable way to accomplish that at this time. This is O’Neil’s second book, the first was a well done and well needed history of the Nassau Races. Essential for historians and those interested in the truly golden years of sports car racing in the United States.
