Extreme 308s

308 turbocharged 650+ b.h.p. IMSA racer..feature article in European Car Magazine.
One of life’s more gratifying, if accidental, experiences is to own a 308GTB Euro with Speedline wheels, a car worth maybe 35,000 dollars tops, and have it mistakenly identified by drooling onlookers as a 288GTO, thereby multiplying its value tenfold. When that happens, one rarely corrects the faux pas, letting those who guessed wrong think that the owner must be truly fortunate. And why not?

For those who wish to enhance this effect, Doug Pirrone at Berlinetta Motorcars in Long Island, New York, offers a nice range of add on 288 GTO-style panels, available in Fiberglass, Kevlar or shades of the F50, carbon Fiber. These panels are designed and built right at Berlinetta Motorcars, so expert help, and advice go hand in hand with the sale.

All GTO style panels are high quality, lightweight fiberglass to increase the speed and overall performance and handling of your car. These parts can be applied to all Ferrari 308 and 328 models, including 308 QVs, 1976 to1989. The most popular items are the European light weight black front and rear bumpers, which will take a total of about 90 pounds of polar moment weight off your car.

They restore the beautiful lines to the nose and rear of the of the car, as it was originally designed. A black resin is added to the fiberglass to minimize scratches, and each bumper weighs only 5 pounds.

If you don’t already have a Euro spoiler, Doug has created one designed to work with Berlinetta Motocars’ brake cooling kit, making the air dam do dual duty. These are particularly easy to install, taking maybe two hours to add the spoiler.

Getting really serious, and if you have wider wheels to cover, add the GTO Style wide rear fenders, weighing only 11 pounds in fiberglass. Balancing that out, wide front fenders are also available, weighing only 3 pounds each.

Winning at the historic Bridgehampton racetrack.
Doug will also help you go the whole nine yards, with roof panels, doors, engine lids, side skirts, rear license panel as well as a complete one-piece front clip, which includes the wider fenders.

Of course, then the trick is to make it as fast as it looks. Only natural. Berlinetta Motorcars is ready for that, with years of experience modifying a wide variety of Ferraris, including a 650 hp turbocharged 308 GTB IMSA racer.

Whatever you decide, Berlinetta Motorcars is there to help you fulfill your desires. And keep those would be Ferrari owners guessing. Check out their website, (www.BerlinettaMotorcars.com) or visit them at their new location in Huntington, Long Island, New York, 631-423-1010
