Sebastian Vettel won an entertaining Brazilian Grand Prix and helped clinch the constructor’s championship for Red Bull Racing in a season that has seen the lead change more times than Lindsey Lohan has requested bail. Mark Webber’s second place finish was a clean, uneventful drive, but that is what helps win championships.

It rained and then it got dark, not an auspicious beginning for Korea’s first world championship Formula One event. It looked dismal, the bleachers were only half filled, the rain didn’t let off and the red lights blinked throughout the event. Seven cars were involved in accidents and retired. Dismal and expensive. [Read more…] about Korean Grand Prix, Oct. 24, 2010

Singapore has tried branding itself as the Monaco of the east. I’ll give them credit for creating something special. But, with strict laws and not nearly the same quantity of vulgar, rich Russians, it’s not going to be an exact copy. But what they have managed to do is create a show, and that’s what this sport is all about. [Read more…] about Singapore Grand Prix, Sept. 26, 2010

When it comes to F1, there are certain expectations that the fans have. Racing in England will usually be interrupted by rain. Monaco’s harbor will have ridiculous boats in the harbor (with even more ridiculously thin women wearing not much more fabric than a handkerchief on them prancing around on said yacht) and Ferrari should win any race at Monza. There is an old lesson in racing that you don’t necessarily need to be the fastest car out there to win, you just need to be the first to cross the finish line. Mark Webber drew a line under that statement with his uneventful win at the Hungaroring. It really wasn’t his race to win, but it was his team mate Vettel’s to lose. And lose he did. The young German seemed to have the race in the bag with a strong pole performance and outstanding opening laps. [Read more…] about Hungarian Grand Prix

A Bad Day for Ferrari, a Good Day for Webber
by Pete Vack (Erik is still on the road.)

As runner ups to the raging Red Bulls, Ferrari had half a chance this weekend. Alonso had qualified in third and put his car on the second row, Massa in row four. An early puncture put Massa near the back of the pack from where he would not recover, seemingly off form. After flat spotting his tires on lap 40, Massa made a trick or treat call on the pits and they simply weren’t ready. [Read more…] about British Grand Prix

The recent unscheduled flight of Mark Webber’s Red Bull highlighted at least two issues:
One, that the new regulations which were put in place for increased cockpit safety measures were certainly worthwhile; and two, Mark Webber has been involved in an increasing number of incidents.
