Recently longtime VeloceToday contributor Alessandro Gerelli had a chance to take in the annual AutoClassica show in Milan, which ran from November 16-20 at the Fiera Milano. The show offers a large exhibition of cars for all tastes and of all eras including Youngtimers to keep the younger generations excited about the history of the automobile.

Every year in October, the European Concours d’Elegance season comes to an end in the posh seaside town of the Zoute, Belgium. The event, called the Zoute Grand Prix, includes a Concours d’Elegance, a rally for classic cars, a rally for modern GTs and an auction organized in collaboration with Bonhams. The entire city of the Zoute is adorned in the colors of the Zoute Grand Prix and thousands of enthusiasts converge on the Belgian coast for this occasion. This was again the case this year, especially as the sun was on high.

One week ago, (September 24-25) the Domain of Chantilly welcomed for the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours for the sixth time. Starting on Saturday with a short rally for the cars entered on Sunday’s Concours, the event saw on Sunday 20,000 visitors converging to the Chantilly Estate, a wonderful setting for classic and concept cars, north of Paris.

In Mid-August, the 49th Oldtimer Grand Prix took place, an event that has been held for nearly fifty years at the famous Nürburgring track. After two years of absence, the greatest classic car race meeting of Germany was back, with races for all tastes.
Races for F1 cars were of course eagerly awaited by the public as well as the new DTM Classic Cup; the DTM Touring cars were always very popular in Germany.

With sixty six entries, this year’s TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa confirmed its status of world’s premier endurance race for GT cars.

Mathias Doutreleau’s Concours d’Elegance Suisse, held on June 18-19, 2022, will probably be the hottest Concours of the year. By hot I mean 36 Degrees centigrade (96.8 Fahrenheit) hot, and burning sun all day long. More of a laid-back garden party than a formal concours. the event is held annually at the Chateau Coppet located on the shores of Lake Geneva, about a 15-minute train ride from Geneva. This 40th re-enactment of the Mille Miglia was a special edition as it marked a return to normality after two editions impacted by the pandemic. The foreign crews, mostly absent in 2020 and 2021, were back in number as well as the public along the roads and in the city centers.

For the world’s best regularity run drivers, the Mille Miglia is THE race of the year, not to be missed. This year saw the third victory in a row of Andrea Vesco, with co-driver Fabio Salvinelli, aboard a 1928 Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport. This is the first time since 2000 that a driver managed to triumph in three consecutive editions. Below, we continue our presentation of the 2022 Mille Miglia, from Lancia to the French entries.
