Maserati 300S, 1:18th Scale
By Marshall Buck
A review of 1:18 scale Maserati 300S models from CMC, and thanks to Walter Bäumer’s great (big) book for helping in research on these racers.
From 1955 through 1958, Maserati produced a total of twenty-six of the wonderfully balanced 300S sports racers. Sir Stirling Moss once wrote that the 300S was “…..one of the easiest, nicest, best balanced sports-racing cars ever made….” and he should certainly know. I’ll add my two cents worth…… it was, and is still one of the prettiest as well. Within the entire production there were three notable body styles, each featuring numerous detail differences.
1- First series cars, short nose, and shortest body.
2- Interim series, semi-long nose, with a slightly longer rear. Fewest cars made with this body.
3- Long nose, and long rear end.

Targa Adelaide, South Australia
Targa Adelaide, South Australia, 21-25 August 2013
Story and Photos by Vince Johnson unless otherwise noted.
When Jason and John White’s Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera suffered differential problems on the second day of the Targa Adelaide, the chances of them repeating last year’s win were always going to be slim. Nissan driver Steve Glenney, with Bernie Webb navigating, put his knowledge of the South Australian hills roads to good use, taking the lead early and was never headed.
Coppa D’Oro Delle Dolomiti (Cortina) 2013
Coppa D’Oro Delle Dolomiti, August 29th-September 1st 2013
Giuliano Canè is an Italian driver who has won many historical Mille Miglia and seven editions of the Coppa d’Oro. In an interview with a local newspaper, he said that the Coppa d’Oro in the 90s was at the same level as the Mille Miglia in terms of number of participants and even more qualified for drivers and cars. I remember in late 80s, I saw a man whose name is Mauro Forghieri changing the plugs of a Testarossa: what a dream! [Read more…] about Coppa D’Oro Delle Dolomiti (Cortina) 2013
Brandes Elitch at The Quail
Story by Brandes Elitch

The Monterey weekend is so overwhelming that it is impossible to capture more than a small part of it here. Two reasonable and sophisticated car collectors might come back with two completely different versions of what they saw that mattered to them, and in listening to them you would wonder if they were in the same place. All of us have our biases and predilections, and oftentimes we just search out what we already favor, without being distracted by something new. This is human nature.
